I’ve written my letter, what now?
You may be wondering what actions you can take that can actually make a difference. You may be questioning if your actions matter, or how you can get others to care and take action alongside you. You are not alone.
Over ten years of doing this work, we have heard these same questions and concerns from people around the world. And, we’ve thought a lot about how we can focus on what matters most, sustain motivation and hope, and leverage collective power.
Actions are necessary at the individual level, in groups (schools, workplaces, communities, movements, friends), in leadership decisions, in conversations, and the political level.
Some actions are more meaningful than others. Important sectors to focus on include: energy, food, transportation, consumption, finance.
Aligning values and identities with concern leads to deeper and longer term action/engagement.
Taking action (especially when done with others) is a way of caring for oneself, building community, increasing resilience, and connecting to hope.
We must address our emotions.
We have to imagine a beautiful future to make it real.
